1. September 11, 2007, is the beginning of the 2000th year. That is the last year of the millennium and the new millennium won't start until 2001. A millennium is 1000 years; not 999.
* The difference between the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar is only 13 days today and the current year according to both calendars is 2007.
* Ancient Ethiopians have been celebrating the beginning of the new year on Meskerem 1 for a long time. The Julian calendar do not start on September 11 and does not have 13 months.
* The new year of the Egyptian Coptic calendar also starts on Meskerem 1, though the year numbers are different.
