... "This time, however, Ethiopians have the opportunity to celebrate their own millennium. Ethiopia, being probably the only country which has officially adopted the Julian calendar, will celebrate the coming of the millennium ten months from now on September 11, 2007..."

1. September 11, 2007, is the beginning of the 2000th year. That is the last year of the millennium and the new millennium won't start until 2001. A millennium is 1000 years; not 999.
* The difference between the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar is only 13 days today and the current year according to both calendars is 2007.
* Ancient Ethiopians have been celebrating the beginning of the new year on Meskerem 1 for a long time. The Julian calendar do not start on September 11 and does not have 13 months.
* The new year of the Egyptian Coptic calendar also starts on Meskerem 1, though the year numbers are different.
